MaNGA 8313-1901: Gas Accretion Observed in a Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxy?

چکیده

Abstract Gas accretion is an important process in the evolution of galaxies, but it has limited direct observational evidences. In this paper, we report detection a possible ongoing gas event blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxy, MaNGA 8313-1901, observed by Mapping Nearby Galaxies and Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) program. This galaxy distinct off-centered clump to northeast (the NE clump) that shows low metallicity enhanced star formation. The kinematics also seems be detached from host BCD galaxy. Together with drop clump, suggests likely external origin, such as or interaction, rather than internal H II complex disk. After removing underlying component, find spectrum “pure” can match very well modeled containing stellar population young stars (≤7 Myr) only. may imply experiencing cold gas, instead merger involving galaxies significant preexisting old stars. We signs another SW at southwest corner two clumps share same origin accretion.

Molecular gas in blue compact dwarf galaxies

Blue compact dwarf galaxies (BCDGs) are currently undergoing strong bursts of star formation. Nevertheless, only a few of them have been clearly detected in CO, which is thought to trace the ”fuel” of star formation: H2. In this paper we present a deep search for CO J = 1 → 0 and J = 2 → 1 emission lines in a sample of 8 BCDGs and two companions. Only 2 of them (Haro 2 and UM465) are detected. ...

SN 1995 ah - the first supernova observed in a Blue Compact Dwarf galaxy ⋆

We present the properties of the supernova SN1995ah discovered in a Blue Compact Dwarf galaxy (BCD) around 10 days after the maximum. This is the first supernova event observed in a BCD. The photometric and spectroscopic data suggest that SN1995ah is a Type II supernova and could belong to the rare Bright SNII Linear subclass, for which 〈MR〉 ∼ 〈MB〉 = −18.9± 0.6 at maximum light.

FUSE observations of the Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxy Mrk 59

New FUSE far-UV spectroscopy of the nearby metal-deficient (Z⊙/8) cometary Blue Compact Dwarf (BCD) galaxy Markarian (Mrk) 59 is discussed. The data are used to investigate element abundances in its interstellar medium. The H i absorption lines are characterized by narrow cores which are interstellar in origin and by broad wings which are stellar in origin. The mean interstellar H i column dens...

Hst Observations of the Blue Compact Dwarf Sbs 0335–052: a Probable Young Galaxy

We present HST WFPC2 V and I images and GHRS UV spectrophotometry of the spectral regions around Lyα and OI λ1302 of the extremely metal-deficient ( Z ∼ Z⊙/41 ) blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxy SBS 0335–052. All the star formation in the BCD occurs in six superstar clusters (SSC) with ages ≤ 3-4 Myr. As there is no evident sign of tidal interaction, star formation in the BCD is probably triggere...

Evidences for an expanding shell in the blue compact dwarf galaxy Haro 2

Long-slit observations of the blue compact galaxy Haro 2 have been performed around Hα and Hβ. The main aim of these observations was to detect the Hα emission originating in the partially ionized wind outflowing at 200 km/s, that had been previously detected with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). A shallow broadening of the Hα line wings has been observed, consistent with the existence of an e...
